The National Association of Stevedoring Companies and Port Employment Centers (Anesco) has closed the call for entries for the ‘7th Short Story Literary Contest: Port Stevedoring’ with an absolute record of participation, having received a total of 245 submissions—105 more than in the previous edition—making it the highest number since the contest’s inception. The submission deadline ended last Friday, July 18, and once again, the competition has demonstrated its strong appeal among participants, solidifying its position as a benchmark initiative to promote and showcase the work of port stevedoring companies and workers through culture and literary creation.
The jury for this seventh edition consists of highly regarded professionals from the world of literature and journalism, alongside ANESCO’s Secretary General, José Luis Romero. This edition maintains the same prizes as before. Thus, the contest features a first prize of 1,000 euros, a second prize of 500 euros, and a third prize of 300 euros. The works were submitted anonymously and will be evaluated based on their literary quality. The jury’s decision is expected to be announced next autumn. The winning stories will remain in Anesco’s possession, which reserves the right to publish them.
With this record participation, Anesco continues to foster cultural creation linked to the port sector and highlight the importance of cargo loading and unloading in Spanish ports.
