The Port Innovators Network (PIN) reinforces its commitment to global port innovation by welcoming Thinkport Vienna and Port Esbjerg, two innovation hubs at the forefront of sustainable logistics and the maritime energy transition.
The additions address the major challenges of the maritime and logistics sectors, bringing proven expertise and tested solutions to the PIN network.
Thinkport Vienna is a pioneering open innovation hub that develops solutions for urban logistics challenges, promoting innovations in sustainable freight logistics for livable cities. Port Esbjerg, on the other hand, is Europe’s leading offshore wind base port and a driving force in the energy transition, driving hydrogen production, carbon storage, and maritime decarbonization.
This strategic expansion includes leading port innovation hubs from Austria and Denmark, enabling PIN to accelerate network collaboration and open innovation in Central and Northern Europe.
For Thinkport Vienna and Port Esbjerg, joining the organization will help them foster new opportunities for global knowledge exchange, gaining access to cutting-edge technologies and collaborating on solutions for urban mobility, offshore wind operations, maritime decarbonization, hydrogen, carbon storage, and sustainable port management, among other innovations.
The new PIN members will participate in the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress (PEIC), organized by Opentop on October 22, in Valencia.
Mag. Martin Posset, Managing Director of Thinkport Vienna, stated that “As the first inland port member of the Port Innovators Network, our organization drives visionary innovation projects that redefine logistics and mobility, demonstrating the vital role of river ports as testing grounds for the future of sustainable and smart port ecosystems.”
Dennis Jul Pedersen, Managing Director of Port Esbjerg, added that “It is absolutely crucial for the development of the Port of Esbjerg that we foster a strong and active culture of innovation. A culture with international reach, which brings new knowledge and inspiration. This is exactly what we get through our collaboration in the Port Innovators Network.”
Salvador Furió, Director of Innovation and Development of the Fundación Valenciaport Cluster, explained that “We are very proud to see PIN (Port Innovators Network) grow, a network that we founded with the firm purpose of driving port innovation at an international level.”
“The incorporation of new members, such as the ones we welcome today, reinforces the achievement of that purpose and the positioning of the PIN network and all its members, including of course Valenciaport through Opentop, as an international benchmark for logistics-port innovation,” Furió added.
