On May 2, the second MR-type 49,400 DWT product /chemical tanker “MC THALIA” built by Zhejiang Tianshi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was launched.
The vessel features a steel double bottom and double hull, single engine, single propeller, and single rudder structure, designed for unrestricted navigation as an MR-type product /chemical tanker. It has a total length of 182.75 meters, a molded breadth of 32.20 meters, a molded depth of 19.10 meters, a design draft of 13.30 meters, and a deadweight tonnage of 49,400 tons, classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The ship is suitable for bulk transport of ten grades and one grade of clean and polluted (slop) petroleum /chemical liquid cargoes (IMO X, Y, Z applicable to Type II and Type III vessels specified in the “Cargo List”), with liquid cargo flash points below 60°C. Its Energy Efficiency Design Index meets Phase 3 standards, and its environmental protection, energy efficiency, and overall reliability have reached internationally advanced levels.
