Danish tanker operator Torm announced that it has expanded its fleet once again by adding eight vessels through a combination of reselling existing vessels and acquiring second-hand ships.

On May 13, Torm announced in its quarterly earnings report that the company has agreed to acquire six MR product tankers for resale following the end of the first quarter of 2026, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2028. Specifically, the first two vessels are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027, with the third and fourth expected to be delivered later in 2027; the fifth and sixth are scheduled for delivery in 2028.

Torm did not disclose the seller’s identity in this resale transaction, but market sources indicate that the MR product tankers were originally ordered by Yangzijiang Maritime Development, a Singapore-listed shipping company, from a Chinese shipyard.

This resale transaction is part of Torm’s recent flurry of fleet activity; the Danish shipowner has consistently been one of the most active listed companies in the product tanker sector.

In the first quarter of 2026, Torm added two LR2 tankers built in 2016 and one MR product tanker built in 2018 to its fleet, which have been renamed “Torm Helga,” “Torm Hedwig,” and “Torm Fortune,” respectively; During the same period, Torm sold the 2008-built LR2 product tanker “TORM Maren” to a new owner as part of its ongoing fleet renewal program.

In addition, Torm has reached an agreement to acquire two MR product tankers built in 2015, which are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2026, at which time they will be renamed the “Torm Dehradun” and the “Torm Dapitan.”

Upon completion of delivery of all proposed vessels, Torm’s fleet size will increase to 103 vessels, up from 95 at the end of the first quarter of 2026, including two vessels operated under sale-and-leaseback agreements with repurchase options.
