Recently, the Da Nang municipal government in Vietnam has approved the investment and construction plan for the Lien Chieu Port container terminal. The project’s total estimated investment is 1.8 billion USD, with a construction period from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2036.
Da Nang is a central city in central Vietnam, focusing on developing industries such as logistics and marine industries. Da Nang is located at a strategic position on the North-South Economic Corridor of Southeast Asia, adjacent to international shipping routes, and is also an important gateway connecting the provinces of Vietnam’s Central Highlands, Laos, and Northeast Thailand, serving as a crucial commodity trade hub in the region. Lien Chieu Port is one of Vietnam’s three major deep-water seaports, planned as a specialized port.
The Lien Chieu Port container terminal to be invested in and constructed covers an area of 173 hectares, with a land area of 25.7 hectares. The plan includes building 8 container terminal berths with a total quay length of 2,750 meters, capable of accommodating 18,000 TEU-class container ships. Its designed annual throughput is approximately 5.7 million TEUs.
In recent years, large-scale port projects such as Vietnam’s Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster, Hai Phong’s Lach Huyen Port, Da Nang’s Lien Chieu Port, and others in various regions have attracted significant attention from domestic and international investors, fully demonstrating the attractiveness of Vietnamese ports.
