The decline was due to the fact that “shipping company alliances have been restructured,” explains the Authority.

Barcelona – The positive trend in the export and import container segments allowed the Port of Barcelona to improve its revenue in the first half of 2025, despite a 3.1% drop in overall traffic, which stood at 34.68 million tons. Containerized traffic was affected by the decline in transshipment, which fell by 21.3% in the first half. In this regard, the Authority explained that “shipping company alliances have been restructured, causing changes in operational terminals within the Catalan port. This transformation occurred in a context of instability, with transit containers being repositioned due to the closure of the Suez Canal.”
