October 11 News: US President Trump stated on Friday (10th) that the United States will impose a new 100% tariff on Chinese imported goods starting November 1st.
According to Trump’s own statement, this is an additional tariff rate on top of the tariffs currently paid. Simultaneously, the incumbent US President also announced that the US will implement export controls on all critical software on the same day.
“Based on China’s adoption of this unprecedented stance, I announce, on behalf of the United States, and not other nations also threatened, that starting November 1, 2025 (or earlier, depending on whether China takes further action or changes), the United States will impose an additional 100% tariff on China, which is on top of the tariff rates they currently pay.”
Prior to this, our country and the United States have engaged in a tariff war to varying degrees, but subsequently, both sides have eased considerably. In response to Trump’s statement, it is estimated that our country will soon impose equivalent tariff sanctions.
According to foreign media reports, the current average US tariff on Chinese goods is about 57%. If this new tariff is implemented, the US tariff on Chinese goods would rise to over 150%.
Trump posted on his social platform “Truth Social”: “We have just learned that China is taking an extremely tough stance on trade issues and has sent a highly confrontational letter globally, stating its intention to implement large-scale export controls on almost all Chinese-made products and even some non-Chinese-made goods starting November 1, 2025.”
He wrote: “In view of China’s unprecedented stance, and this tariff represents only the United States, starting November 1, 2025 (or earlier, specifically depending on China’s subsequent actions), a 100% tariff will be imposed on all Chinese goods exported to the US, a rate far exceeding the current standard.”
