On August 31, U-Ming Marine Transport issued an announcement to order two additional 63,000 dwt bulk carriers at New Dayang Shipbuilding, each with a cost of no more than US$34 million and a total transaction value of US$68 million.
U-Mingwill take delivery of 5 capesize bulk carriers and 2 wind power vessels before the end of this year. Next year, three capesize bulk carriers, two postpanamaxbulk carriers and one concreteshipwill be delivered, followed by four 63,000 dwt bulk carriers.
U-Ming’s executives said that the company has a total of 55 ships, and the oldest ships are 10 years. Together with the 17 new ships currently under construction, the company will operate a fleet of 74 ships. In order to comply with the new environmental regulations, the proportion of energy-saving ships will be increased to 80%.
