The government: “Measure is necessary to guarantee national energy security”
Kiev – Ukraine has announced a 30% increase in natural gas imports, following an intensification of Russian attacks against the country’s energy infrastructure. The Ukrainian government stated that the measure is necessary to guarantee national energy security and prevent service interruptions during the winter months.
According to official sources, the additional supplies come from international suppliers, including countries of the European Union and other strategic partners. Ukraine is also strengthening its storage capacities to manage the increase in reserves and improve the resilience of the national energy system.
Ukrainian authorities have emphasized that, despite efforts to diversify supply sources, energy security remains an absolute priority. The government has called on the international community to further support initiatives to guarantee energy stability and reduce dependence on vulnerable sources.
The intensification of Russian attacks has had a significant impact on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with damage to power plants, transmission lines, and storage facilities. Despite efforts to restore services, authorities have warned that further measures may be necessary to address the imminent energy challenges.
