The Port Authorities of Syros, Tinos and Kythnos were informed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) of the Hellenic Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard Headquarters that a speedboat (T/X) vessel of Greek flag with no passengers on board was sailing at speed in the sea area between Syros and Kythnos while its operator had fallen into the sea.
Immediately, two Patrol vessels of the Hellenic Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard (PLS) and two private vessels proceeded to the area to provide assistance. The 60-year-old Greek operator of the T/X was located and recovered by a passing sailing vessel “PAOMI” of Italian flag, in good health. The man was transported, escorted by the PLS, to the area “LOUTRA” of Kythnos from where he was transported to the Kythnos Health Center for precautionary reasons. The T/X vessel was located in the sea area near the bay of Foinikas Syros and was then guided by the vessel “EVANGELIA” S.C. 145 and escorted by the PLS to the marina of Foinikas where it moored safely. No injury was reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
-The Port Authorities of Kythira and Neapoli Voion were informed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (J.R.C.C.) of the Hellenic Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard Headquarters of an incident of a missing vessel with 2 passengers on board (1 Greek and 1 foreigner) which had departed during midday hours on 03.08.2026 from the port of Agia Pelagia Kythira towards the beaches of Kythira and has since been missing.
Immediately, searches were initiated by one Patrol vessel of the Hellenic Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard (PLS) and one Patrol vehicle of the Hellenic Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard from land. The vessel arrived voluntarily at the port of Agia Pelagia Kythira with its passengers in good health.
