US LNG exports rise 8% in December as Europe absorbs three-quarters of volumes

US liquefied natural gas exports by vessel climbed to 569.3 Bcf in December 2025, marking an 8% increase from November and a 39% rise year on year, according to the US Department of Energy’s “U.S. natural gas imports and exports monthly” report for December 2025.

Cargoes were shipped to 28 countries, with Europe taking 431.5 Bcf, or 75.8% of total LNG volumes. Asia received 68.2 Bcf, followed by Africa with 48.5 Bcf and Latin America and the Caribbean with 21.1 Bcf.

Turkiye emerged as the largest single LNG destination during the month at 95.7 Bcf, ahead of the United Kingdom with 67.4 Bcf, Egypt with 47.1 Bcf, Germany with 45.8 Bcf and the Netherlands with 43.5 Bcf.

Non-free trade agreement destinations accounted for 93.7% of total LNG exports in December.

By point of exit, Sabine Pass led vessel loadings at 134.4 Bcf, followed by Plaquemines with 110.6 Bcf and Corpus Christi with 90.7 Bcf.

The average LNG export price by vessel in December stood at $8.14 per MMBtu.
