COSCO Shipping will maintain all its commercial services on the Asia – USA trade active, despite the heavy economic repercussions of the new US taxes on Chinese ships.
The shipping company itself communicates this in a customer advisory.
“As reported by the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on April 17, starting next October 14, the United States will begin applying extra tariffs on maritime transport services provided by Chinese operators and shipowners, as well as by other operators using ships built in China” states the shipping company.
“Although the new tax may present operational challenges for COSCO, we remain confident in our ability to guarantee stable and reliable services to the United States” states the liner, adding that “we will commit to maintaining a stable capacity distribution and consistent service quality, constantly offering reliable, safe, and high-quality logistics solutions”.
The company also commits to maintaining competitive rates. “We have always been a reliable partner in facilitating import and export trade in the United States – states the company – in the future, we will demonstrate resilience and determination, with a commitment to service excellence, continuing to serve the US market”.
