Wärtsilä Gas Solutions will deliver fully integrated cargo handling, fuel gas supply and boil-off gas reliquefaction systems for a new LNG bunkering vessel under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard in China for Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) Energy Shanghai Co., the company said in a news release.

The order, booked in the third quarter of 2025, includes the Compact Reliq (CRS) reliquefaction unit.

According to He Bin, Vice General Manager of Shanghai SIPG Energy Service Co. Ltd., the company has completed more than 200 bunkering operations totaling over 1 million m³ of LNG during the three and a half years since taking over the vessel Hai Gang Wei Lai. He stated that the performance of Wärtsilä systems in that period led to continued cooperation on the new project.

Barry Yang, General Manager Sales, China, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, said demand for LNG as a marine fuel is rising and that the company aims to optimize efficiency for LNG bunkering vessels. He noted that SIPG’s operational experience contributes to the vessel’s optimization and that Wärtsilä is working with both the owner and the shipyard to implement improvements.

The equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2026, and the vessel is expected to be commissioned in summer 2027.
