Westwood Global Energy Group has introduced MarineLogix, a new intelligence platform aimed at giving shipowners and managers a clearer view of offshore vessel activity. Designed for an industry facing tighter deployment windows and volatile demand, the platform focuses on comparable, explainable data to support commercial decisions.
For shipowners and technical managers operating offshore support, service and wind related vessels, understanding where assets are working and how effectively they are deployed has become a commercial necessity rather than a planning exercise. Against this backdrop, Westwood Global Energy Group has launched MarineLogix, an offshore vessel intelligence platform intended to bring greater clarity to a fragmented market.
MarineLogix combines vessel profiles, interactive mapping, market analytics and news across more than 10,000 vessels, 2,500 owners and over 30 vessel classes worldwide. The platform is built around a historic utilisation methodology developed by Westwood to provide a consistent, like for like view of offshore activity. Rather than relying on generic movement metrics, it processes large volumes of AIS data to construct continuous timelines that reflect how vessels actually work offshore.
Crucially for ship managers, vessel activity is assessed against Westwood’s proprietary offshore infrastructure datasets. This allows utilisation to be analysed by region, vessel class and market segment, supporting benchmarking of active working days across fleets and geographies.
The timing reflects growing pressure on offshore operators. Regional bottlenecks, shifting demand and narrower deployment windows are increasing the risk of late redeployment and underutilised assets, with direct consequences for earnings and pricing strategy.
“One of the biggest challenges in the offshore vessel market is inconsistent and non comparable measures of vessel activity, which can lead to late deployment, missed pricing opportunities and unclear market signals,” said Chen Wei, Senior Manager, Offshore Marine at Westwood. “MarineLogix is a comprehensive, intuitive platform that supports a range of working scenarios, allowing users to benchmark fleets, track daily market developments and step back to a regional or global view – giving operators, owners and investors confidence in their deployment and investment decisions.”
Dominic Ferry, CEO at Westwood, described the launch as an expansion of the company’s OffshoreLogix environment. “MarineLogix is the natural next step in expanding Westwood’s OffshoreLogix environment,” he said. “As offshore industries become more dynamic and interconnected, isolated updates are no longer sufficient. Organisations need a clearer view of how markets fit together.”
