Where do European Union countries import their cars from?

According to Eurostat data, in 2024 the European Union member states imported a total of 4 million cars. Compared to the 2019 data, a decrease of the order of 3% was recorded, which partly reflects the increase in car prices during the 2019-2024 period.

But which are the top countries from which the EU imports cars?
According to Eurostat, the most important countries of origin are China and Japan, while the top five are completed by the United Kingdom, Turkey and the United States of America.

The following list concerns the value of imported cars per importing country:

It is worth noting that, during the 2019-2024 period, the European Union recorded the largest increase in car imports from China, which reached an impressive 1,591.3%. Conversely, imports from the United Kingdom recorded the largest decrease, falling by 17.1%.
