Recently, the final steering gear for the 82,000 DWT bulk carriers batch, produced by China Shipbuilding Group’s Wuhan Marine Machinery Co., Ltd. for Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., was successfully delivered.
This type of bulk carrier has an overall length of 229 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, and a depth of 20.35 meters. It incorporates the latest design concepts and technologies, equipped with an intelligent energy efficiency system that optimizes sailing performance in real-time and significantly reduces carbon emissions. The steering gear for this bulk carrier has a maximum working torque of 1,690 kN·m, a maximum working pressure of 23.5 MPa, and a maximum rudder angle of 35°. It adopts a dual-plunger four-cylinder fork-type steering gear structure, featuring high system integration precision, safety, and reliability. Additionally, the steering gear is equipped with a digital control system, providing technical support for subsequent condition monitoring and fault diagnosis.
A total of 14 ships of this bulk carrier type were built in batch, all equipped with steering gears supplied by Wuhan Marine Machinery. Since April 2024, the 14 steering gears have been delivered in batches, meeting the shipyard’s construction requirements.
