Xiamen, November 25 (Xinhua) — On the afternoon of the 25th, the “Adora Mediterranean” cruise ship, carrying more than 2,400 passengers, slowly departed from the Xiamen International Cruise Center, embarking on a 13-day, 12-night “Southeast Asia Five-Country Maritime Silk Road Journey.” This marked the successful conclusion of the 2025 cruise season at the Xiamen International Cruise Home Port.
According to statistics from the Xiamen Cruise Port Customs, the customs supervised a total of 77 inbound and outbound cruise voyages this year, serving and safeguarding 123,000 inbound and outbound passengers, representing year-on-year increases of 129% and 82.7% respectively.
“This growth trend has exceeded expectations. This year, several international cruise companies have increased the deployment frequency on Xiamen routes, fully demonstrating that Xiamen’s attractiveness as a regional cruise hub is continuously being unleashed,” said Qin Hao, Deputy Director of Xiamen Cruise Port Customs.
Since the beginning of this year, Xiamen Cruise Port Customs has been committed to creating a convenient clearance environment characterized by ‘unnoticed clearance, intelligent supervision, no disturbance without cause, and omnipresence.’ It took the lead in implementing a new model of ‘one-time inspection for Customs and security’ at the exit channels of national seaports. This model has streamlined the clearance process from 6 steps to 4, reducing the clearance time by 60% compared to the original process, significantly enhancing the passenger clearance experience.
Addressing the characteristics of cruise ship food supply—’wide variety, complex materials, and tight timelines’—Xiamen Cruise Port Customs innovatively introduced a work model of ‘list declaration + verification supervision’ for food hygiene supervision supplied to international cruise ships. This has reduced the declaration materials required by enterprises by approximately 90%, greatly improving the efficiency of food supply to ships.
Shi Jinshan, Executive Deputy General Manager of Xiamen Xiangyu International Cruise Development Co., Ltd., introduced that based on the 2026 berth reservation status of the Xiamen International Cruise Home Port, the total number of cruise ship receptions at the port next year is expected to show steady growth.
