On September 10, under the careful protection of the Nantong maritime department, the Bahamian “Diamond” ship safely docked at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG terminal terminal in Yangkou Port, Nantong. This is the 800th LNG vessel docked at the terminal since it was put into operation in 2011, marking the further consolidation of Yangkou Port’s position as an important clean energy hub in the Yangtze River Delta.

The ship is 297.16 meters long and 46.4 meters wide, and carries 72,500 tons of liquefied natural gas, which can meet the daily gas consumption of about 190 million households. Jiangsu LNG terminal is currently the largest and strongest clean energy hub base in the Yangtze River Delta region, with a total tank capacity of 1.08 million square meters, and has been put into operation, with a total LNG volume of more than 67 million tons and more than 90 billion cubic meters of natural gas, providing solid support for regional energy supply.

LNG needs to be cooled to about minus 163°C during transportation, with low temperature, flammability, rapid disguise and other characteristics, high risk and high exclusivity, and belongs to the ship type of key monitoring and service guarantee by the maritime department. In recent years, the Nantong Maritime Safety Bureau has insisted on providing “one ship, one policy” guarantee services for LNG ships, and effectively improved the efficiency of ship entry and exit and terminal turnover by opening up green channels, using information technology to monitor in real time and scientifically organize traffic.

At present, relying on the 3-square-kilometer Sunshine Island, Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone vigorously develops the LNG clean energy industry, and has successively introduced a number of major energy projects such as PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiving Station, Jiangsu LNG Storage and Transportation Peak Shaving Project, GCL Huidong LNG Receiving Station, and Dongyangkou Port LNG Receiving Station, focusing on building a leading LNG receiving base, reserve base, supply base and sales center in the country and even the world. The Nantong Maritime Safety Bureau will coordinate development and security, continue to provide solid maritime support for clean energy transportation, and help achieve the “double carbon” goal and the development of new marine productivity.
