As noted in his speech during the event, Mr. Ueyama stated that the Greek Office is the essential “software” that supports the engines of YANMAR, which has supplied more than 5,700 Greek vessels.
“As you know, even the most advanced computer cannot operate without software. The same applies to engines: they cannot maintain high performance without proper operation, technical expertise, and organized maintenance.”
Mr. Ueyama emphasized that this “software” is the knowledge, dedication, and skill of the YANMAR Greek team, which ensures the continuous success of YANMAR engines worldwide.
“Your commitment represents the best combination of Japanese philosophy and Greek passion,” he added, highlighting the human resources as the foundation of the company’s achievements.
The event began with the opening speech by Mr. Giorgos Diakogiannis, General Manager of YANMAR Engineering Greece, who expressed his gratitude to the customers, partners, and colleagues for their long-term cooperation.
“Over these 25 years, the Greek Office has grown together with the shipping community – together with our loyal customers, partners, and colleagues, in Greece, in Japan, and all over the world,” mentioned Mr. Diakogiannis.
This close relationship was reinforced by the presence of the Embassy of Japan in Greece, represented by the Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Takaaki Nemoto, who, in addition to his speech in fluent Greek, also performed the traditional Japanese toast with sake: a symbolic gesture of friendship and mutual respect.
“Over this quarter of a century, YANMAR has provided engines and equipment that are widely appreciated for their efficiency and reliability,” stated Mr. Nemoto.
“By developing sustainable technologies with respect for the natural environment, YANMAR continues to build a better future for the next generations.”
He emphasized that YANMAR has supplied more than 5,700 engines to Greek vessels, and that almost one third of the Greek fleet relies on YANMAR.
For his part, Mr. Masaru Hirose, President and Executive Director of YANMAR Power Solutions, presented the company’s strategy for the development of advanced engine technologies and alternative fuels, which will lead the shipping industry towards a sustainable transition.
At the same time, he announced the establishment of YANMAR Power Solutions, which will manufacture, as well as evolve, large propulsion engines and auxiliary engines, as well as the engines used for power generation on land.
