Hamas responded positively to the new ceasefire proposal with Israel in the Gaza Strip, which it received earlier today from the mediators of Egypt and Qatar, a Palestinian organization official reported to the French Agency.
“Hamas delivered its response to the mediators” and confirmed that both itself and the other Palestinian organizations accepted the new ceasefire proposal, without requesting modifications, this official, who requested not to be named, reported.
The efforts made in recent months by the mediators (Egypt, Qatar, USA) have not borne fruit so far, to end the war that has been ongoing for 22 months in the Gaza Strip.
So far, no Israeli official has commented on this ceasefire proposal. Hamas’s positive response comes at a time when the Israeli military is preparing to occupy Gaza City and the neighboring refugee camps that are currently not controlled by Israel.
Egypt announced that it delivered a new ceasefire proposal to Israel for the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that now “the ball is in Israel’s court.”
The mediators of Egypt and Qatar drafted a proposal based on a previous American plan, the head of the intelligence service Diaa Rashwan reported, speaking to the state media Al-Qahera News. This proposal “was sent to Israel and the ball is now in the court” of the Israelis, he added.
