WENZHOU, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — The Panamanian /roll-off ship “Forest Glory,” loaded with 400 new energy vehicles, set sail from the Zhuangyuan’ao Port Area of Wenzhou Port in Zhejiang Province to Dubai on the 15th, escorted by a maritime patrol boat. This marks the official opening of a new sea route from Wenzhou to the Middle East, which is also the first route specifically for the /roll-off shipment of complete new energy vehicles since the establishment of Wenzhou Port.
The “Forest Glory” is a 3,100-car-capacity car carrier with a total of 8 decks. It is equipped with dedicated vehicle parking spaces and securing devices. After connecting to the wharf berth via a ramp bridge, vehicles can drive directly onto the ship. The vessel departed from Wenzhou Port, will call at Nansha Port, and then proceed to the destination port of Dubai, with a total sailing time of approximately 23 days.
According to information obtained by reporters from Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, to ensure the successful opening of the route and the successful maiden voyage of the /roll-off ship, Wenzhou maritime authorities, in conjunction with customs, port authorities, railways, logistics companies, and other units, formulated a “one ship, one policy” support plan. They opened a 24-hour “priority inspection” green channel and implemented measures such as “remote pre-inspection + on-board inspection” to provide comprehensive safety assurance for the ship’s transport.
It is reported that the opening of this new route will further broaden the overseas logistics channels for automotive chain products from southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian regions, providing strong support for Wenzhou Port to expand its port opening and improve its foreign trade route network.
