This is what executives of maritime security companies argue in “N”, pointing out that the first Iranian attack occurred against the container ship EVER LOVELY of Evergreen Marine, while it was followed by the strike on the crude oil tanker KIKU, under Panama flag, events that caused successive military reactions from the US side.

The United States Central Command announced that it carried out airstrikes against Iranian surveillance facilities, communications, air defense, drone warehouses and naval mine-laying capabilities, in retaliation for the attack on the tanker KIKU under Panama flag.

At the same time, analysts point out that Iran’s attacks against targets in Bahrain and Kuwait may be part of a broader strategy of pressure on the Gulf states, in order to accept an increased role for Tehran in the management of the Strait of Hormuz and to limit their support for US security initiatives in the region.

It is worth noting, however, that to date, Tehran has not provided any official justification for the two attacks that occurred against the ships EVER LOVELY and KIKU in the southern transit corridor of Oman.

At the same time, the exact subject of the consultations being conducted at the level of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding the navigation regime in the Strait of Hormuz and the possibility of revising or updating the transit instructions after the recent incidents remains unclear.

At the same time, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) informed the UKMTO that the southern transit route has been widened to accommodate both inbound and outbound traffic simultaneously.
Despite the increased tension, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz continues, albeit at a slightly reduced pace compared to previous days.
