China News Service, Huizhou, June 6 (Reporter Guo Jun) Huizhou Maritime Safety Administration held a press conference on the 5th, stating that from January to May this year, the overall water traffic safety situation in the Huizhou jurisdiction was stable and improving, with multiple indicators showing positive growth. The maritime department has achieved significant results in ensuring safety, serving development, and improving governance capabilities.

According to statistics, from January to May this year, the number of ships entering and leaving Huizhou Port was 55,000 vessel trips, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%; the volume of cargo carried by ships entering and leaving the port was 52.18 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%, of which dangerous goods accounted for 43.98 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11%.

To ensure the stability of the water traffic safety situation in the jurisdiction, from January to May this year, Huizhou Maritime Safety Administration dispatched 886 enforcement personnel, deployed 356 vessel trips, and covered a patrol mileage of 5,699 nautical miles. Huizhou Municipal Maritime Emergency Search and Rescue Center successfully handled 4 emergencies, involving 5 ships in distress and 6 people in distress, with 6 people rescued, achieving a search and rescue success rate of 100%. The overall water traffic safety situation remained stable.

To build a solid safety defense line, Huizhou Maritime Safety Administration has deeply promoted a series of special actions to tackle root causes and improve water traffic safety, and implemented upgraded control measures for major hazard sources during key periods such as holidays; deepened “joint governance between commercial and fishing vessels,” established and put into substantive operation 3 “joint management centers” for commercial and fishing vessels, and implemented a “one bridge, one strategy” plan for 20 important bridges in the jurisdiction; strengthened water area control, carried out 25 joint cruise enforcement operations, and coordinated with local governments to seize and dismantle “three-no” vessels, effectively purifying the navigation environment.

Regarding the safety guarantee for large dangerous cargo ships entering and leaving the port, the administration implemented refined control measures, implementing “one ship, one strategy” full-process regulatory services for 300,000-ton oil tankers and LNG transport vessels; relying on the meteorological linkage early warning mechanism, improved the extreme weather prediction and early warning chain, achieving zero water emergencies, zero accidents, and zero casualties in the jurisdiction during severe weather control periods.
