Recently, the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Management Committee, Tianjin Port Group, and Shanghai Lecang Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Tianjin to jointly build the “Lecang Energy Ship Green Intelligent Renovation Headquarters Project.”
As a key signing project of the 4th Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo, Lecang Energy will focus on the green and intelligent renovation of large vessels, injecting strong momentum into Tianjin Port’s construction of a world-class smart port and green port.
Shanghai Lecang Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is an emerging force in the ship modification sector under the global shipping green transformation background, focusing on ship LNG (liquefied natural gas) dual-fuel modification, offshore wind power system R&D, and new energy technology services, providing carbon-neutral solutions for the shipping industry through technological innovation.
This cooperation with Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone and Tianjin Port Group, the Lecang Energy Ship Green Intelligent Renovation Headquarters Project settled in the Lingang area, will adopt a “headquarters + entity manufacturing” model. A headquarters company integrating operations, design, R&D, and procurement will be established in Tianjin to undertake international large-scale ship dual-fuel modification orders. At the same time, it plans to invest 2 billion yuan to build an industrial base in the central area of Tianjin Port Lingang, including ship green power system R&D, intelligent renovation technical services, and core equipment integration. The technical and management team will benchmark against international first-class standards, deeply integrating the latest intelligent cutting-edge technologies in the ship and offshore engineering field, leading the global ship and offshore engineering industry toward high-end, green, and intelligent iteration and upgrading. After reaching full production, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value of 4 billion yuan and drive employment for 3,000 people.
It is worth mentioning that currently, Tianjin Lecang Energy Technology has finalized the first batch of 10 large container ship modification orders with the world’s largest shipping company, Mediterranean Shipping Company, with an order amount of approximately 300 million yuan. This modification business will also be implemented in Tianjin for production upon the completion of the base.
Lecang Energy is the first landmark project for the comprehensive upgrade of the central area of Tianjin Port Lingang, precisely aligning with the global shipping green and low-carbon transformation trend and the national ship and offshore engineering industry cluster development plan. The project’s implementation will strongly support Tianjin in leveraging its core port advantages, accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces in the marine economy, and building an internationally competitive ship and offshore engineering equipment manufacturing industry cluster.
