Mawei Shipbuilding Launches 94.76-Meter Platform Supply Vessel.

Must read

On July 15, Fujian Shipbuilding Group’s subsidiary Mawei Shipbuilding commenced construction of the 94.76-meter platform supply vessel (MW642-2).

This vessel has an overall length of 94.76 meters, a beam of 19 meters, a depth of 8 meters, and a structural draft of 6.5 meters. It features a state-of-the-art electric propulsion system, powered by four 2200KW diesel generator sets that provide energy and electrical support for the entire ship. Propulsion and positioning are ensured by two 2150KW fixed-pitch azimuth thrusters, two 1250KW tunnel bow thrusters, and one 1000KW retractable azimuth bow thruster. Classified by Lloyd’s Register (LR), the vessel meets requirements such as DP(AA), ECO, CAC3, and GR(ML, A) notations.

Primarily used for transporting personnel and supplies to offshore drilling platforms, it can carry freshwater, fuel, cement, drilling mud, drilling water, crude oil, methanol, and equipment. Additionally, it is capable of firefighting and rescue operations for other vessels or offshore installations. The design also allows for future upgrades, including the potential installation of a DSV (Diving Support Vessel), offshore cranes, helicopter decks, and moon pools. This vessel represents an advanced, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly electric propulsion multi-purpose platform supply ship.
