Pissonas Evia: Scattered infrastructure burning, 4 firefighters lightly injured

A titanic battle is being fought by firefighters in Pissonas Evia, trying to contain the massive flames and combat the thick black smoke that has covered the entire area.

Many firefighters are operating with self-sacrifice, passing through the burning front to create firebreaks and protect small scattered units and facilities.

As reported, two fire trucks were engulfed by flames and completely destroyed when surrounded by the fire. Their crews were forced to abandon them to save their lives under adverse conditions. Shortly afterward, their crews, consisting of 4 firefighters, were searched for, found lightly injured, and transported by ambulance to Chalkida General Hospital for first aid.

The Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, speaking to APE-MPE, stated characteristically that “the fire is uncontrollable. The situation is very difficult, as it is burning everything in its path. The ground forces, although reinforced, are unable to contain the destruction.”

The Regional Governor reiterated the call for reinforcement of aerial means, as the very large front is moving uncontrollably in all directions, with the wind constantly changing direction and hampering firefighting efforts.
