Recently, U.S.-based Houston mobile offshore drilling unit design company Friede & Goldman (F&G) and offshore asset conversion and lifecycle optimization specialist Peak Ocean Offshore signed a design agreement to provide design and engineering services for a large-scale semi-submersible platform conversion project.
Under the agreement, F&G will serve as the lead design and engineering party for the project, responsible for converting an F&G classic ExD-designed semi-submersible drilling platform into a high-capacity offshore accommodation platform.
The collaboration will leverage Peak Ocean’s expertise in asset repurposing and operational efficiency while reinforcing F&G’s decades-long technical reputation in complex offshore platform conversions and upgrades.
Roberto Salinas, Project Director at F&G, stated: “We are pleased to partner with Peak Ocean, whose strategic approach to asset lifecycle management strongly complements our engineering capabilities in this important initiative.”
“This agreement reflects our shared vision in the offshore sector for innovation, safety, and engineering excellence, representing a growing industry trend—exploring alternative uses for drilling platforms to extend asset lifespans and maximize utilization. Our teams possess proven expertise in repurposing offshore assets.
