An investment of over 6.7 million euros is planned

Today, the Port System Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea launched the tender for the restoration and enhancement works of berths 32 and 33 in the Deep Water Zone of the Port of Savona, with the goal of starting the works by the end of this year and restoring full operations to one of the most significant areas for ro-ro traffic of cars and heavy machinery. Bids must be submitted no later than August 12.

The project, named “P.829 – structures of ‘Scassa 33’ and the ‘Zone 32 South’ berth,” involves a total investment of over 6.7 million euros, with a tender base amount for the award of the executive design of approximately 5.5 million euros. The works will not only include the structural restoration of the damaged berths but also their enhancement through the construction of new structural works, deepening the hydraulic draft, and installing berth furnishings and seabed protections. These interventions aim to ensure greater long-term stability and safety, in line with the latest technical standards and the expected increase in maritime traffic volumes.

The need for the intervention arose following structural failures in March 2024, caused by a series of particularly intense weather and marine events. The consolidation efforts will therefore be accompanied by preventive measures to counteract erosive phenomena and safeguard the integrity of the berth’s base, ensuring the infrastructure’s durability and the continuity of port operations.
