The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) has introduced Identity Exchange, a system designed to simplify business identity verification by consolidating public and commercial data sources into a single access point.
The SaaS-based system has been developed to support automated workflows as well as manual processes, allowing users to access structured company information such as registration numbers, tax IDs, LEIs, and addresses through a web interface or API.
Data is aggregated from providers including Dun & Bradstreet, EU VIES, GLEIF, and EU EORI. Queries are automatically routed to the most reliable source based on country, data type, and quality.
According to DCSA, the platform has already been tested in pilots with carriers and forwarders, running more than 25,000 checks with an 85% match rate across 110 countries. Outputs are standardised to reduce false positives and support compliance checks and due diligence processes.
DCSA says revenue from the product will be used to support its non-profit mission to deliver digital standards for container shipping.
