Yara Clean Ammonia, the world’s largest transporter and marketer of ammonia, held the steel-cutting ceremony of the Yara Eyde, the world’s first container ship powered by renewable ammonia.
Yara Eyde, which will operate on the Oslo–Porsgrunn–Bremerhaven–Rotterdam route, will connect industrial clusters with sustainable maritime logistics, reducing emissions and ensuring efficient trade flows.
“This is more than just the start of a ship: it is the beginning of a new chapter in maritime decarbonisation. Yara Eyde embodies our ambition to make low-emission ammonia a reality for shipping and inspire the industry towards solutions that reduce emissions,” said Hans Olav Raen, CEO of Yara Clean Ammonia.
“North Sea Container Line has always sought to offer competitive and sustainable logistics solutions. Yara Eyde is a perfect example of how close collaboration across the value chain can bring cutting-edge technology into business operations and generate tangible benefits for both cargo owners and customers,” added Bente Hetland, CEO of North Sea Container Line.
