He stressed that international conditions and geopolitical correlations are changing rapidly, making it necessary to maintain the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector. He pointed out that shipping, although responsible for a minimal percentage of global emissions, is under intense pressure and tax burden because it lacks political power and is considered one of the most robust sectors of the economy.
He also underlined two critical challenges: the lack of officers, which threatens the manning of ships and offices, and the need for a more active shipping policy, capable of defending the interests of Greek shipping in the international environment. Regarding public maritime education, Mr. Laskaridis said it needs a radical upgrade from the salaries of teachers to the content of studies.
The gross freight is 14,500 US dollars, minus a 5.00% commission paid to third parties, for the period from February 25, 2027 to April 25, 2027. The charter is expected to commence on October 12, 2025. The m/v DSI Aquila was chartered, as previously announced, to Western Bulk Carriers AS, with a total freight of 12,250 US dollars per day, minus a 5.00% commission paid to third parties.
The “DSI Aquila” is an Ultramax 60,309 dwt bulk carrier built in 2015.
The employment of the “DSI Aquila” is expected to generate approximately 7.15 million US dollars of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.
