APM Terminals inaugurates expansion at Suez Canal Container Terminal

APM Terminals inaugurated the expansion of Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT), in Egypt, adding 955 meters of new quay and 510,000 square meters of yard space with the support of 12 Ship-to-Shore cranes, 30 electric RTGs and more than 90 trucks. This improvement increased the capacity by 2.2 million annual TEUs, raising the total figure to 7 million TEUs.

SCCT offers first-class operations and is a key piece of our global network,” said Lars Mikael Jensen, Head of Hubs and Ocean Collaboration at APM Terminals.

SCCT is one of the eight core terminals of APM Terminals that make up the East-West network of AP Moller – Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd. The investments in the terminal aim to boost fast transshipment and enable advanced digital planning tools.
