RIKON is demonstrating impressive dynamics
This delivery is the latest in a series of portal crane shipments to Turkey in recent months. Following the recent successful completion of the Isdemir Port project for OYAK Group — one of Turkey’s largest and most influential industrial conglomerates — the company has moved without pause to a new stage of cooperation.
Commissioning of two new portal cranes for one of Turkey’s top 100 industrial enterprises has been completed in the Port of Riga. The cranes have been delivered fully assembled by a heavy-lift vessel, just as was done previously for the OYAK project.
The team’s dedication deserves special mention: despite one of the coldest winters Latvia has seen in the last two decades, RIKON specialists conducted assembly operations at the Port of Riga during winter without interruption to guarantee adherence to schedules and high assembly quality under challenging weather conditions.
A Technological Bridge Between the Baltic and the Mediterranean
The new equipment is destined for a specialized terminal — a strategic hub that handles up to 14.5 million tons of cargo annually. The terminal serves as a vital gateway for the region, accommodating vessels with a deadweight of up to 110,000 DWT.

The two RPS-1100 model cranes are high-performance units weighing 430 tons each.

A key technical highlight of these RPS-1100 cranes is their lattice-style portal design, echoing the legendary engineering traditions.
This specific portal architecture is highly favoured by port operators for its extreme durability and is engineered for a service life of up to 40 years of intensive operation.

Easy and Cost-Effective Maintenance
The portal’s design allows for the replacement of the slewing bearing arrangement in just a matter of days.
By utilizing high-quality standard bearings available on the open market — rather than custom-made, prohibitively expensive large-scale slewing bearings — RIKON ensures extremely low maintenance costs and eliminates long lead times for spare parts.
Versatility: Efficient operation in both hook mode and grab mode, up to 50 tons;
Durability: The design is adapted to the customer’s climate, withstanding wind gusts up to 43 m/s and operating in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C.
Serial Cooperation and Unique Logistics

The key advantage remains RIKON’s signature logistical method: the cranes were transported from Riga to Turkey earlier this year aboard a heavy-lift vessel in a fully assembled and ready-to-operate state. This spares the client from lengthy on-site assembly and allows the equipment to be integrated into the port’s operational cycle almost instantly.
