The expansion of services offered by Medlog (Msc) on its intermodal network continues. After launching its first reefer train (from Gioia Tauro to Verona), the intermodal operator, starting next December 1, will also offer its network of connections for the transport of open top containers. A type of box equipped with a removable roof that allows top loading and the ability to handle oversized or irregularly shaped cargo.
For Msc, however, these are not the only recent developments in rail operations.
The railway company Medway Italia, part of the same group, has in fact recently begun to perform shunting services in-house at the Medcenter Container Terminal in the port of Gioia Tauro, also owned by Msc, a capability it secured after two tenders to identify a single manager for the terminal went deserted.
