The Turkish Cypriot administration (KKTC) stated that the Cyprus Administration and Lebanon signed the 2007 maritime delimitation agreement during a ceremony in Beirut on 26 November. It noted that the Lebanese government had announced on 23 October 2025 that it approved the same agreement after it had remained pending for “approximately 18 years.”

The signing occurred during a visit to Beirut by Cyprus Administration leader Nikos Hristodulidis.

The Turkish Cypriot administration views the agreement as “a new element” of unilateral steps allegedly taken by the Cyprus Administration since 2003 and claims these steps disregard “the equal rights and interests” of the Turkish Cypriot community in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean. It asserts that the agreement is considered “entirely null and void” by the Turkish Cypriot side.

The statement adds that all unilateral maritime arrangements made by the Cyprus Administration with “third parties, including Lebanon,” are regarded as “null and void” by the Turkish Cypriot administration. It calls on the international community not to support unilateral steps and urges relevant states to avoid joining arrangements made without the consent of both sides of Cyprus.
