Taizhou Jianxing Shipyard completed the order from Ningbo Ocean Shipping Company for a new 1,058 TEU capacity container carrier, the penultimate unit in a series of eight sister ships of the SDARI Sealion D1000 type that the shipyard will build for the Chinese regional carrier.

The above corresponds to the launching of the Ning Yuan Jin Tang. The shipping company placed the order for the vessels through multiple batches, with the first one made in mid-2023, according to Alphaliner.

“Designed for short-sea trade, the crane-less vessels have a length of 136.1 meters and a beam of 25 meters, with a deadweight of 15,500 tons and a draft of 8 meters. The SDARI Sealion D1000 model features a forward-positioned bridge and has an open hold,” stated the consultancy.

“Thanks to its compact dimensions and low air draft, this type has been specifically designed for domestic coastal routes in China and can enter the Yangtze River and sail up to Wuhan, passing under the Nanjing bridges,” it added.

The Ning Yuan Jin Tang is equipped with two main Weichai 8WH25LC2500-7.5 engines, which provide a total power of approximately 1,838 kW, reaching a speed of 12.7 knots.

The unit has already completed its first coastal voyage from Yuhuan to Ningbo and Shanghai, as part of the Ningbo Ocean Shipping Company network.
