Batu Ampar Container Terminal (BACT), a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), and Interport Mandiri Utama (Interport), in cooperation with Batam Terminal Petikemas (BTP), will officially assume the role of sole port operator for the North Wharf of Batu Ampar Port, Indonesia, starting December 1, 2025, with all corresponding rights and obligations as port operators.

The integrated operational structure will improve service standards, strengthen operational efficiency, and increase BatuAmpar’s competitiveness as a regional logistics hub.

“Starting December 1, BACT and BTP will officially operate as the sole port operator of the North Wharf of Batu Ampar Port, supporting the transformation of Batu Ampar into a modern and competitive international port,” stated Benny Syahroni, Port Management Director of BP Batam.

The North Wharf features modern facilities for high-volume cargo handling, an annual capacity of 900,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), and has a 1,032-meter wharf. It is equipped with five ship-to-shore cranes, twelve RTG cranes, and ten electric trucks. The truck fleet is expected to increase to 25 units in the near future.

“Our commitment is to transform Batu Ampar into a modern and competitive international port. In addition to investing in infrastructure and equipment, we focus on developing a highly skilled local workforce, aligned with the professional standards of the ICTSI Group, to enhance performance and consolidate the solid foundation already in place,” stated Hsin Kai Huang, chief executive officer of BACT, who delivered the closing speech together with Basori Alwi, president director of BTP.

The implementation of the sole port operator model is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce vessel turnaround times, and enhance the overall service reliability at Batu Ampar Port.
