China News Service, Guangzhou, May 5 (Xu Qingqing, Guan Yue) On the 5th, after completing customs clearance procedures, with the sound of the ship’s whistle, the “Guangzhou-Hong Kong Automobile Express” cargo ship “Guangzhou-Hong Kong Automobile 01”, carrying approximately 170 new energy vehicles, departed from the Nansha Automobile Terminal berth for Hong Kong, China.

According to Guangzhou Customs on the 5th, during the “May Day” holiday, a total of 4 ships at the Nansha automobile terminal carried approximately 7,000 vehicles for export, including domestic brands such as Geely, BYD, and Aion, destined for Mexico, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other locations.

Guangzhou Nansha Automobile Terminal is the largest automobile ro-ro terminal cluster in South China, featuring 7 dedicated ro-ro berths of 10,000-ton class or above, 1.8 kilometers of terminal shoreline, nearly 1.6 million square meters of commercial vehicle storage yard, with an annual designed throughput capacity exceeding 3 million vehicles. It can accommodate large ro-ro vessels and serves as a crucial hub gateway for domestic automobile exports in the Greater Bay Area.

To further smooth the cross-border logistics channel for domestic automobiles, Nansha Customs, under Guangzhou Customs, has established a “one-stop” customs clearance service mechanism, enabling “one inquiry by enterprises, comprehensive answers at the window.” Through the “Smart Seaport” and “Intelligent Monitoring” platforms, it achieves full-process digital closed-loop supervision of export vehicles from entry to departure, and innovatively implements the “export supervised warehouse + direct sea transport” model, transforming “ships waiting for vehicles” into “vehicles waiting for ships,” significantly reducing the time vehicles spend at the port.

In response to the demand for automobile exports during holidays, Nansha Customs guides enterprises to apply the “advance declaration” model, conducts pre-review of documents, and ensures smooth customs clearance procedures such as document review and inspection. “The momentum for automobile exports continues to be strong this year. Before the holiday, we proactively coordinated with enterprises and the terminal to map out export plans. Once export vehicles arrive at the port, inspection and release can be completed within one hour,” introduced Xiao Yingfeng, head of the Automobile Supervision Section of Nansha Customs.

According to statistics, from January to April this year, Nansha Customs supervised approximately 151,000 vehicles exported via ro-ro from Nansha Automobile Terminal, a year-on-year increase of about 21.3%. (End)
