Prohibition of departure of RORO passenger ship in Igoumenitsa

The Port Authority of Igoumenitsa was informed by the Master of the passenger-vehicle ferry (/G) ship “ANO CHORA II” N.P. 11173 that during a scheduled route from the port of Corfu to the port of Igoumenitsa, a malfunction occurred in the steering propeller number 3 of the ship.

The ship sailed under its own power to the port of Igoumenitsa, where it safely disembarked 107 passengers, 17 private cars, 23 trucks, 1 bus and 1 motorcycle. The Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, initially prohibited the departure of the /G and, following the submission of a class maintenance certificate from the classification society monitoring it and the conduct of an extraordinary mechanical and electrical inspection, allowed the continuation of voyages. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
