DP World en Chile incorporated seven modern electric tractors into its multipurpose terminal at the Port of San Antonio.
Julio Munizaga, engineering maintenance senior manager of DP World in San Antonio, stated that “these seven units are the first to arrive at a port terminal in central Chile and will reinforce our container operation, moving 12% of our cargo in the yard.”
The expert added that “as they are 100% electric units operating with renewable energy, they generate a positive impact on reducing the carbon footprint by 325 tons of CO2, with a great benefit for Chile’s international trade that operates through DP World in San Antonio. Added to this is the benefit of reducing noise pollution.”
The seven modern electric tractors arrived at the terminal on the ro-ro vessel Cosco Yai Yuan Kou and will be fully operational in the first week of June, following the current process of theoretical and practical training for operators and maintenance technicians.
