Dan-Bunkering has completed an LNG bunkering operation in China for Sallaum Lines’ newbuild pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Ocean Express, involving approximately 1,400 tonnes of LNG.

According to Dan-Bunkering, the delivery is the result of a development process that began around April 2025, during which the company worked with Sallaum Lines to evaluate LNG supply opportunities in China connected to the shipowner’s newbuild programme. Ocean Express is one of six vessels in the series, and the delivery represents the fourth supply opportunity Dan-Bunkering has supported within that programme.

The operation was carried out using a ship-to-ship delivery said to be tailored to the vessel’s operational requirements. Dan-Bunkering notes that LNG bunkering for PCTC vessels can be operationally demanding, with delivery setups often requiring a bespoke approach for each vessel call.

The delivery was executed in cooperation with Chinese supply partner SIPG Energy. Dan-Bunkering’s Netherlands office, along with specialists and sourcing teams from parent company Bunker Holding, also contributed to the operation.

James Shiller, global lead of new fuels at Dan-Bunkering, commented: “This is a great example of what it takes to support clients in the transition to alternative fuels. LNG bunkering is not always straightforward, particularly during a first full bunker operation. Success depends on local knowledge and persistent cooperation across teams. Sallaum Lines trusted us and SIPG Energy to keep working the options, and we are proud that all involved teams turned a challenging situation into a successful delivery. We value the relationship and look forward to supporting their remaining newbuild deliveries.”
