Denmark has decided to contribute to the European force that will help ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz once a permanent peace agreement has taken effect. This was announced by Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen following a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee on Tuesday morning.
Denmark will not contribute a warship, but a number of other capabilities.
“These are personnel who can interpret, staff officers, a drone contribution, and a cyber element,” says Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus to TV2.
He does not wish to specify how many personnel Denmark is sending, but he emphasizes that it will not be a risk-free mission for those involved.
Several major European countries such as France, the United Kingdom, and Germany have already sent warships and equipment to the Middle East.
