It has a gross tonnage of 54,300 tons and a capacity of 998 passengers.
Yesterday, at the Ancona shipyard, Fincantieri delivered the new cruise ship Viking Mira to the Viking cruise group, which has a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons and features 499 cabins capable of accommodating up to 998 passengers. The vessel, which will be used on itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, belongs to the small cruise ship segment and is part of the Viking cruise fleet, all built by Fincantieri. Considering the ships already ordered, the contracts signed, and the options agreed upon in recent months—whose effectiveness remains subject to the usual financing conditions required by the market—the total portfolio between the two groups now stands at 26 units.
Meanwhile, construction is underway at the Ancona shipyard for Viking’s Viking Libra, which will be the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions. Its delivery is scheduled for next November, while the delivery of the subsequent ocean-going vessel, the Viking Astrea, is expected in 2027.
Currently, Viking has plans to deliver 24 new river ships by 2028, nine new ocean-going ships by 2031, and two new expedition ships by 2031, after which the American group will have a total of 114 river ships and 26 ocean-going and expedition ships.
