Alfa Laval UK & Ireland has appointed Alessandro Bracco as managing director, as of May 2026

Mr Bracco succeeds Rachel Bridges, who has moved into the role of portfolio unit president of growth and partnerships for Alfa Laval’s ocean division.

Mr Bracco has taken the position after five years with Sweden-headquartered engineering company Alfa Laval and brings more than 20 years of experience in B2B sales, marketing and commercial strategy to the role. Prior to joining Alfa Laval, he held roles across the finance, renewable energy and building materials sectors.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Bracco said the marine sector offered significant opportunities despite ongoing market challenges.

“There has never been a more exciting time to take the helm at Alfa Laval,” he said. “While challenges persist in the market, there are also opportunities – particularly in the marine sector.”

Mr Bracco said his leadership approach had been shaped by both British and Scandinavian business cultures.

“Alfa Laval UK has been established in the UK & Ireland for well over 100 years,” he said. “I’d like to think this has shaped my style of leadership, which is the product of both British and Swedish approaches to business – empowerment and trust, but above all pragmatism and efficiency.”

Looking ahead, he said the company would continue to focus on growth opportunities linked to the UK’s energy transition.

“The UK’s decarbonisation journey is one that presents both challenges and opportunities in every sector, with marine no exception, all while power demand continues to grow,” said Mr Bracco.

He added that efficiency would remain a central element of the company’s strategy, stating: “At Alfa Laval, we believe that a kilowatt-hour saved is better than a kilowatt-hour created.”
