Terminal operator Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) has signed a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Faculty of International Maritime Studies at Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus (IMS KU). The agreement extends their strategic academic partnership for a third consecutive three-year term, locking in a collaborative training and talent development framework through June 2029.
The renewed agreement aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and commercial maritime operations, preparing Thai undergraduates for specialized roles within the country’s expanding logistics, port management, and supply chain sectors.
The multi-year partnership secures structured access to real-world infrastructure for students tracking toward maritime careers. Over the past six years, the collaboration has focused heavily on utilizing HPT’s deep-water container terminals at Laem Chabang Port, Thailand’s primary container gateway, as a live learning laboratory.
Key components of the ongoing educational framework include:
Beyond technical logistics instruction, the partnership serves as a platform for regional environmental management. The cornerstone of this shared ecological focus is the “Go Beyond Go Green” initiative, an extension of Hutchison Ports’ global corporate sustainability program.
The joint environmental project actively coordinates tree-planting campaigns and ecological awareness drives centered around the high-density industrial zones of Laem Chabang Port, the Kasetsart University Sriracha campus footprint, and adjacent municipal communities. By involving students directly in localized reforestation and conservation efforts, the initiative instills a practical understanding of industrial environmental responsibility and supports the long-term decarbonization goals of Thailand’s broader transport sector.
