The Port Authority of Algeciras (APBA) will activate the Unified Road Freight Service (SUMC) on December 9, a new value-added service within the Teleport 2.0 platform, intended for truck traffic on the Strait routes. The objective of the initiative is to move towards a smarter, more efficient, and predictive management model for Algeciras-Tanger Med and Algeciras-Ceuta road traffic.
As of December 9, the SUMC will centralize the management of truck booking requests, as well as the appointments to access the port area. The new service incorporates a digital layer that facilitates coordination with the Strait shipping lines in a key process such as the booking request. Furthermore, it offers complete traceability from the start of the request until boarding, providing greater transparency and efficiency for all agents involved.
As of December 9, all boarding requests must be processed exclusively through the SUMC, with the corresponding access appointments to the port area also being generated on a mandatory basis.
