Maritime traffic between Alicante and Algeria continues to go full steam ahead. Over the last 12 months, 163,618 passengers have been recorded, representing an increase of 36.74% compared to the same period the previous year. Vehicle traffic recorded an even greater increase, close to 58%, with 69,251 units counted. The anniversary of the vessel CRACOVIA, celebrated this month, has marked a turning point for the port’s operations. In its first full year of operation, the vessel has transported 63,404 passengers and 29,551 vehicles, becoming one of the fundamental elements in the consolidation of the route with the North African country.
Currently, there are three vessels connecting Alicante with the ports of Oran and Algiers. These are the CRACOVIA, from Ocean Ports Shipping, the VENIZELOS, from E.N.T.M.V, and the ROMÁNTIKA, from the company Madar Maritime. This performance reinforces Alicante’s role as a strategic connection platform between Europe and the Maghreb, a position that has been strengthened by the stability and regularity achieved on the routes with Algeria.
For the Port Authority, these results are not only an indicator of operational growth but also a reflection of the strength of the relations between Alicante and Algeria, which maintain a constant flow of economic, family, and cultural exchanges. The port body reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening these connections, improve services, and continue promoting the positioning of Alicante as one of the most relevant maritime enclaves in the western Mediterranean.
