As of September 15, Andrés Osorio will leave the presidency of the Puerto de Barranquilla Business Group, a position he reached on April 1, 2024, after replacing René Puche.
From the port operator it was highlighted that during Osorio’s management “the Port strengthened its competitiveness, promoted strategic projects and reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and sustainable development.”
“Under his direction, the Port of Barranquilla achieved strategic advances in infrastructure, technology and sustainability. Among them, the incorporation of three LHM 500 mobile cranes, the commissioning of Pier 0, which consolidated the ninth berthing position; the second phase of the Transkal operating software, aimed at optimizing the management of bulk and coke cargoes, and the acquisition of an Eagle P60 Second Generation scanner, which optimizes safety and efficiency by detecting threats, reducing manual inspections and review times. In terms of sustainability, the installation of a photovoltaic solar system that today covers 30% of electricity consumption, reaffirmed its leadership in the energy transition. In terms of Occupational Health and Safety, a more solid and participatory preventive culture was consolidated, promoting increasingly safe and healthy work environments, laying the foundations for a more efficient and sustainable port,” added the business group.
Replacing Andrés Osorio, Manuel Buitrago Vives, an executive with more than 24 years of experience in the oil, gas and energy industry, and a solid track record as President and Country Manager of Gran Tierra Energy in Colombia and Mexico, will become president of the Puerto de Barranquilla Business Group.
