Argentina: Tandanor completes repair of vessel Asturiano III

The Argentine shipyard Tandanor completed a repair process undergone by the vessel Asturiano III, a container ship with a length of 148 meters and a beam of 23 meters.

From the facility they detailed that, during the work period with the ship, the boilermaking workshop carried out the renewal of outer strakes and the assembly of fairleads, while the boilermaking sector dismantled and updated the filter box of the engine room.

For its part, the mechanical workshop carried out the replacement of butterfly valves, provided assistance during the vulcanization of the external seal of the shaft line, and performed the measurement of clearances of the shaft line of the steering system.

Finally, the quality control area of Tandanor executed the corresponding non-destructive tests, by applying penetrating liquids on the weld beads, verifying the quality of the repairs carried out.

The Asturiano III, built in 2007, is part of the fleet that makes up the shipping company Patagonia Shipping Lines and carries out cargo cabotage between the ports of southern Argentina, including Ushuaia, Comodoro Rivadavia and Bahía Blanca. The container ship has a nominal capacity to transport 1,096 TEU and 220 reefer connections.
