Arla and Maersk are expanding their long-standing collaboration with the establishment of a new cold storage facility in Taulov Dryport. From next summer, Arla will use a 9,100 sqm unit in Maersk’s existing logistics facilities for the storage of temperature-sensitive dairy products.

The facility will be set up with two temperature zones at 2°C and 5°C respectively. The largest part of the warehouse will be fully automated with self-driving transport vehicles, while an advanced cooling system will ensure optimal conditions.

“The collaboration with Maersk makes it possible to develop integrated solutions that strengthen both efficiency and robustness in our global supply chain,” says David Boulanger, Executive Vice President & Chief Supply Chain Officer at Arla, according to a press release from Maersk.

According to Maersk, the new cold storage facility is another important part of the company’s integrated logistics solutions, which span from sea and air freight to customs, land transport and now also cold storage.

Arla and Maersk have collaborated for more than 20 years, and the expansion in Taulov is part of a global initiative where Maersk operates around 20 cold storage facilities worldwide.
